Shop Leaf Keychain

Leaf Keychain

$10.00

I first made this shape as part of an exercise in the painting class I took my first semester of grad school. I had taken a photo of some directional signage around the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville campus that had a leaf pattern on the back. I was struck by how much attention was given to the back of a sign—arguably its least important part. I made the pattern my own and cut it out of fabric, vinyl, wood, and now acrylic. Through these iterations, I was able to understand this shape as a symbol of seasons, cycles, changes and the importance of accepting my studio as a place of impermanence where objects can heal and wrongs can be righted.
