FAST CASUAL
Fast Casual stages the iterative practices of Vic Barquin and Forrest Frederick within the framework of a fast casual dining experience. Through a series of collaborative studio sessions, the artists engaged in a structured exchange of materials and gestures, where physical arrangements were photographed in 30-minute increments—the average duration of a fast casual meal. This unstable procession across disciplines—from object to image and back again—birthed a mutual appetite for Tape, Plastic, Deceit, American Hardwood, Sunlight, and Gravity. These motifs repeat past the point of exhaustion, their meaning dissolving with each iteration. What’s left is a modular world of dots, flowers, shadows, and stars, where the combinations are infinite.
